Alice L. Manthey, age 90, passed away on Sat., Dec. 12, 2015 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, KS. She was born on Oct. 19, 1925 in Jamestown, KS to Reuben L. & Mary (Andersen) Hansen.

Alice graduated from Concordia High School in 1943 & later graduated from Salina Beauty Academy. She lived most of her life in Concordia and owned & operated Nu-Charm Beauty Salon for over 45 years at her residence.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Carpenter (David), Longmont, CO; son, Wayne Manthey, Concordia; sister, Helen Hansen, Concordia & granddaughter, Mia Donnell (David), Denver, CO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lawrence, Leonard, Gene & Ray Hansen & sisters, Vivian Wood & Viola Johnson.

Funeral services will be 1:30 pm, Tues., Dec. 15, 2015 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Nielsen officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-9 pm, Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Cloud County Health Center in care of the funeral home.

BETTY JO MALL, 86 died December 11, 2015 at Residence in Clay Center, KS. She was born on October 26, 1929 in Clay Center, KS, the daughter of James and Blanche (Reed) Brannan. Betty grew up in Clay Center and attended CCCHS. She cleaned numerous offices and houses in Clay Center for many years. Betty married Mike Mall on May 7, 1977 and he preceded her in death on December 1, 1999. She was a member of the Clay Center First Baptist Church, Clay Center American Legion Auxiliary, and the Clay Center Eagles Lodge. She is preceded in death by parents, 2 daughters, Diane Blattner and Susan Liby, grandson, Jeff Blattner, 4 brothers, and 4 sisters.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 10:30AM at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, KS

Officiating the service will be Susan Sawyer

Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 4-7PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home

Memorials: May be made to Meals on Wheels or to the Clay Center Zoo and can be sent in care of the funeral home.

Hillsboro – Merle Funk died at his home in Hillsboro December 10.  Born September 19, 1954, Merle worked for Bartel Construction of Potwin many years.  He was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors and gardening.  Survivors include his parents Marvin and Elfrieda Funk, Hillsboro, a sister Deb (Mike) Donavan of Kinsley, Kansas and her children Chris (Amy) Seibel, Ryleigh and Braxton of Warrensburg, Missouri, Jeremy (Lindsey) Seibel of Wichita, Danielle (Brian) Burr of Kinsley, Kansas, Makenzie and Logan and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

A time to visit with Merle’s family is planned for December 19, 2015 from 3 to 5 p.m. at First Mennonite Church, 102 South Ash, Hillsboro.  An outdoor Celebration of Life is planned next spring at a lake setting.  Memorials to Main Street Ministries of Hillsboro in care of Jost Funeral Home P.O.
