AMC’s Purchase of Starplex To Be Finalized This Week

AMC Theatres $172 million dollar purchase of Starplex Cinemas is expected to be finalized this week.

The Leawood, Kansas based theatre chain announced the purchase in July, which includes the 10 screen theatre at the Salina Central Mall. Starplex operates 34 theatre locations across the country, including 3 in Kansas.

Once the purchase is finalized, AMC will operate approximately 380 theatres with 5,300 screens.

Representatives of AMC and Starplex both declined to comment Tuesday morning.
