A Salina man was arrested early Thursday morning after fleeing and eluding police.

Captain Mike Sweeney said just after 1 a.m., an officer tried to stop a car for failure to use turn signals at the intersection 10th and South Streets. When the car did not stop, the officer turned on the lights and sirens. The driver sped up, reaching speeds up to 75 mph, before bailing out of the car at Bill Burke Park after the car struck the curb on E. Crawford. The driver ran before being caught.

Vernon Howard III was arrested on requested charges of flee and elude, driving with a suspended drivers license, open container, having a stolen license plate in the car, and numerous traffic violations.
