Food Establishment and Lodging Inspections conducted in Saline County by the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Division of Food Safety and Lodging from December 10 through December 16, 2015.
Food safety and lodging inspections are unannounced, and inspection results represent only those conditions found in the establishment at the time of the inspection.
Al’s Diner, 3140 Centennial Rd. (December 16) Regular Inspection
– Cases of single service cups setting on floor in storage area and break area.
Kansas Highway Patrol Training Center, 2025 E. Iron Ave. (December 15) Complaint Inspection
– No test strips available for quaternary ammonia sanitizer.
– Raw beef stored on shelf above pasteurized bagged scrambled eggs. Corrected on site: moved raw beef to bottom shelf.
– Wet wiping cloths stored in both kitchen prep sink basins and serving line sink basin.
– Food setting on floor in walk-in freezer. Case of croutons on floor of dry storage room.
– Cookies for self service on bar not protected by sneeze guard or packaging. Corrected on site: moved under sneeze guard.
– Cooling chicken noodles and beef noodles while covered with plastic wrap on cart that is packed with other foods not allowing air flow. Corrected on site: unwrapped plastic to allow for some air flow.
– Individual packages of butter on self service condiment counter range in temperature from 73.6 – 74.5 degrees F. Corrected on site: voluntary destruction.
– Creamed corn dated December 8,Turkey dated December 7, and Steak dated December 8 made inside walk-in cooler. Corrected on site: voluntary destruction
– Open carton of whipping cream and 3 pans of meatballs not date marked. Corrected on site: dated whipping cream December 11/December 17 and meatballs December 10/December 16.
– Robot Coupe food chopper’s lid cracked and non stick skillet has 10% of surface missing. Corrected on site: removed skillet and lid from use.
– Can opener blade covered in gummy food debris. Corrected on site: cleaned.
– Bottom of McCall pass through hot holding unit covered in food debris. Floor fan behind serving line and in warewashing area aimed at food or food contact surfaces are full of dust.
– Case of single service cups setting on floor in dry storage room.
– Fruit flies swarmed when person in charge put some trash put into trash can in kitchen.
– Food debris on floor in prep area. Walk-in cooler door handle and utensil drawers are soiled. First compartment of 3 vat sink full of dirty dishes and person in charge states he was ready to leave when inspector arrived.
KSU-Salina, 2310 Centennial Rd. (December 16) Regular Inspection
– Wiping cloth stored inside bucket of detergent in main line area. Corrected on site: moved to sanitizer.
– Cases of individual oatmeal packages setting on floor of store room.
– Individual cream cheese packages 66.7 degrees F inside bowl on top of chiller plate since approximately 7:30 a.m. Corrected on site: moved to refrigeration to quick chill at 10:20 a.m.
– One zip type bag of BBQ brisket dated December 9/December 15. Corrected on site: voluntary destruction.
– Soap dispenser has fallen off of wall at west line area handwashing sink.
– Plastic beverage glasses stored at beverage bar nested together with water between glasses.
– Lid of outside dumpster open.
– HVAC vents and ceiling tiles in west serving line area covered in dust.
La Casita Salina, 1601 W. Crawford St. (December 16) Regular Inspection
– Open glass of water on cabinet closet used for food storage.
– Handle of ladle stored inside salt container touching the salt.
– Container of chili beans dated December 3/December 10 inside walk-in cooler. Corrected on site: voluntary destruction.
– Cut fresh peppers and onion stored inside “Sterlite” container inside walk-in cooler. Corrected on site: lined container with foil.
– Plastic blade of dicer plunger missing approximately 6 pieces of plastic squares. Corrected on site: removed from use.
– Fan on top of microwave and in warewashing room covered in dust. Plastic liner on clean dish rack have accumulation of debris.
– Plastic beverage glasses nested together when taken out of mechanical warewasher without air drying first.
– Southeast back door open and sweep missing on screen door leaving an inch gap along the bottom of screen door.
– Spray bottle of purple liquid in warewashing area not legibly labeled and spray bottle of blue liquid under bar sink not labeled with common name. Corrected on site: labeled soap and windex.
Rods #8, 2140 W. Crawford St. (December 10) Regular Inspection
– Two baskets of candy setting on floor at check out.
– Case of single service cups setting on floor of office.
– 30 count of 2 tablet pouches “Lil Drug Store” extra strength pain reliever dated January 2015. Corrected on site: removed from sale for return.
Starbucks #19806, 2315 S. 9th St. (December 16) Regular Inspection
– Beverage stored on clean side of 3 vat drain board. Corrected on site: moved drink.
– Water will only trickle from ladies toilet room handwashing sink.
– Water at line handwashing sink will only reach 76.2 degrees F before dropping back down to the mid 50’s.
– Ladies trash receptacle not covered.
Subway #25049-118, 2610 S. 9th St. (December 15) Regular Inspection
– Open cup of coffee on prep table next to drive through window.
Taco Bell, 1040 E. Iron Ave. (December 10) Regular Inspection
– Employee handled money, then gloved hand to work with food. Corrected on site: educated, employee washed hands and regloved.
– Damaged case of seasoned beef on shelf with other foods inside walk-in cooler, plastic packages within the case are perforated and moldy. Corrected on site: disposed.
Taco John’s, 2259 S. 9th St. (December 15) Regular Inspection
– Ice scoop stored inside pan of water.
– Previous owner’s 2014 license posted.
