A man and woman were not successful in their attempt to steal merchandise from a Salina business Tuesday night.

Salina Police Captain Chris Trocheck said a man and woman entered the store and filled a shopping cart with a variety of items at Menards, 805 Virginia Court, around 7:15 p.m. They left the store through the garden center and attempted to throw the merchandise over a fence. After being confronted by store management, the pair left the area in a gold van.

The suspects are described as a hispanic or light skinned black male and a thin woman.

The items, which were recovered, were valued at $3,000 and included tools, bath towels, faucets, and security cameras.
