The Saline County Sheriff’s Office says heavy frost on highways contributed to two injury accidents Monday morning.

Captain Roger Soldan said just after 5:30 a.m., 45-year-old Scott Herbel of Solomon lost control of his pickup, causing it to leave the road on Interstate 70 near the Niles exit.

The pickup rolled, coming to rest on its wheels. Herbel was taken to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment after complaining of head pain.

Deputies also responded to a two vehicle crash on I-135 about 7 a.m. near the Falun exit. 25-year-old Rogelio Luera of McPherson was northbound on the interstate, when he lost control of his pickup on the icy road, slid through the median, and struck a tanker truck driven by 40-year-old Cale Swartz of Solomon, that was southbound.

Luera was transported to Salina Regional Health Center for complaints of head pain. Swartz was not hurt.
