Edward Lee Biery, age 75, entered into rest on, January 12, 2016 at his residence. He was born October 26, 1940 in Rural St. Joseph, Kansas to Wilfred E. and Marie R. (Patenaude) Biery.
Lee was a 1958 graduate of Clyde High School.
He married Betty Kegle on November 28, 1959 in Clyde, Kansas.
Lee received a degree in Tele-communications in Wichita, Kansas. He worked for AT&T for 23 years as a Systems Analyst. In 1983 Lee retired and moved to Clyde and owned and operated Lee’s Country Market for 12 years. Lee was also a Real Estate agent for Century 21.
He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was a member of Knights of Columbus council 1999 and was a 4th Degree Knight. Lee was a past Grand Knight in the Arkansas City and Kansas City communities. He also taught CCD for several years. He coached his own boy’s basketball teams for many years.
Survivors include his wife Betty, his children, Greg Biery (Terry), Kendra George (Steve), Steve Biery (Sherri), all of Clyde; 2 sisters, Rose Ann Beaumont (Jerry), Minden, NE; Susan DeMars, Gilbert, AZ; 2 brothers, Fred Biery (Joyce), Austwell, TX; Jerry Biery (Claudia), also of Clyde; Ten grandchildren, Brett and wife Ana; Tamara, Michael and wife Jamie, Benji and wife Whitney, Kenzie and Katie and husband Joel, Ryan, Blake, Austen and Thomas; five great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren and 2 step great-great grandchildren.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 10:30 a.m., January 16, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde with Rev. James Soosainathan officiating.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde.
A Vigil service with rosary service led by the Knights of Columbus council #1999 will be held 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 15, 2016 at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde.
Memorial Contributions may be given to Meadowlark Hospice or St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in care of Chaput Mortuary, Clyde.

Dr. John H. Burkholder, 90, of McPherson, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016, at The Cedars in McPherson. Prior to retirement, he was a Biology Professor at McPherson College.
He was born July 11, 1925, in Octavia, Nebraska, the son of Elmer and Susie (Rothrock) Burkholder. He was a graduate of McPherson College and earned his Doctorate degree from University of Chicago.
On June 25, 1950, he married Donna Marie Bowman in McPherson. They have been residents of McPherson since 1953.
Survivors include: wife, Donna of the home; sons, Phillip Burkholder (Susan) of Brownsburg, IN, Douglas Burkholder (Mary) of Claremont, NC, and David Burkholder of San Francisco, CA; a daughter, Debbie Noffsinger (Stan) of South Elgin, IL; a sister, Helen Dale (Ernie) of Auburn, WA; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Bob, Don, and Wendell.
The memorial service will be at 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 23, 2016, at McPherson Church of the Brethren with Rev. Chris Whitacre officiating.

Rowena E. Flory, 97, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, surrounded by family at The Cedars Courts, McPherson.
Rowena was born on April 11, 1918, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Earl M. and Lela A. (Dell) Frantz. She graduated from McPherson College. On July 3, 1940, Rowena was united in marriage to Raymond L. Flory in Grundy Center, IA. He preceded her in death on November 10, 2002, after 62 years of marriage.
She was a homemaker, master gardener, active member of McPherson Church of the Brethren, member of McPherson Garden Club, and 50 year member of Domestic Dames EHU.
Survivors include: four children, Lowell Flory (Barbara) of McPherson, KS, Gary Flory (Ann) of McPherson, KS, Marlys Best (Gary) of Buhler, KS, and Jana Goering (Mike) of McPherson, KS; 12 grandchildren, Kristen Reynolds (Brian), Joel Flory, Kendra Flory, Janelle Flory Schrock (Jon), Alison Flory Replogle (Shawn), Erin Flory Robertson (Cody), Todd Flory, Andrew Best (Laura), Katie Best (Alan Stucky), Ryan Goering (Kutter Ross), Eric Goering, and Max Goering; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Lela Frantz, husband, Dr. Raymond Flory, and brothers, Merlin Frantz and Byron Frantz.
The memorial service will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, January 18, 2016, at McPherson Church of the Brethren with Reverends Chris and Kathryn Whitacre officiating. A private family burial will take place at McPherson Cemetery with Reverends Shawn Replogle and Alan Stucky officiating. A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Sunday, January 17, at McPherson Church of the Brethren with family receiving friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Rosemary Kasey, 92, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, surrounded by family at Brookdale McPherson. She was a homemaker.
Rosemary was born on July 12, 1923, in Lyons, KS, the daughter of James and Lora (Maxwell) Pattison. She graduated from McPherson High School in 1941. On October 2, 1942, Rosemary was united in marriage to Bruce Duguid. He died in January 1946. She married Duane S. Kasey on May 4, 1947, in McPherson. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2002.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, McPherson.
Survivors include: daughter, Marilyn Miller of McPherson, KS; son, Gregg Duguid (Kathie) of Topeka, KS; brother, Wilbur Pattison (Ruth) of Harlan, IA; four grandchildren, Lora Wiley (David) of Lawrence, KS, Jamie Needham (Jeff) of Kansas City, MO, Scott Unruh (Shannon) of Galva, KS, and Chris Unruh (Maggie) of Olathe, KS; ten great-grandchildren, Asa Wiley, Elise Wiley, Jordan Unruh, Bailey Unruh, Benjamin Unruh, Jonathan Unruh, Lily Unruh, Cole Unruh, Jack Needham, and Silas Needham.

Mildred Esther Miller died on January 9, 2016 at Rice County District Hospital, Lyons. On December 18, 1923, Mildred Esther Carlisle Miller was born in a prairie farm home on the north bank of the Arkansas River to Nora Kissick Carlisle and Alfred George Carlisle of Mt. Hope, Kansas. After her high school graduation in 1941 she moved to Wichita, Kansas to attend Business College. It was in Wichita that she met Cecil W. Miller, of Lyons, Kansas, to whom she married on April 3, 1942. To their union was born three children, Sandra Kay, Gerald Cecil, and Curtis Carlisle. The couple moved to Lyons, Kansas in March of 1950 to begin farming southeast of Lyons. Mildred was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lyons, Kansas. For her lifetime she was active in her church, community, and for two decades tutoring grade school children to read. She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil on October 18, 1997, and her daughter Sandra Gram. She is survived by her sons Gerald and wife Jody Miller and Curtis and wife Jessica Miller, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
She will be missed by her family and all who knew her, yet we are comforted to know that through her faith in Jesus Christ she will live in a loving eternity with God.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 18, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Lyons. Visitation will be 2:00 to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present.
