Pauline A. Pearce, 59, Wells, died Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Via Christi Hospital, Manhattan. She was born September 20, 1956 in Concordia to Ronald A. and Maxine (Girard) Racette.

Polly attended schools in Clyde where she was a 1974 graduate of Clyde High School. She and Stephen T. Pearce were united in marriage on November 28, 1980. Polly worked in the business office at COMCARE in Minneapolis for over 20 years.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women, P.E.O, Prairie Chicks FCE, and the Wells Lions Club.

Polly was preceded in death by her parents; husband Stephen on February 21, 2015; and a brother Steve.

Survivors include her children, Amy Newlin and husband Ian, Lori Peterson and husband Rick, and Brian Pearce-Alt and wife Denali; brothers Daniel Racette and wife LaDona, David Racette and wife Carolyn, and Jerry Racette and wife Diane; sister Jayne Gunn and husband Kevin; grandchildren Meredith Peterson, Maxwell and Zoe Newlin, Alexis Peterson, and Thomas Pearce-Alt.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 P.M., Sunday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Minneapolis, where the rosary will be recited at 5:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the P.E.O. Scholarship Fund or the Tammy Walker Cancer Center.

Terry Lynn King passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas at the age of 56. He was born on April 12, 1959 in Plainville, Kansas to the late Caroline Peggy King. He grew up attending school in Alton and Osborne, Kansas. Later he went to Northwest Kansas Vocational Technical School in Goodland, Kansas to major in Mechanics. On July 11, 2009 he was united in marriage to Helen Kay Earl.

Terry loved to work. Being a repairman for Wilkens Manufacturing was a perfect job for him because he never stopped working. If anything needed fixing, he was the man for the job; and if nothing was broke, he’d spend all day tinkering around with whatever he could find. From lawn mower demolition derbies to building full size demolition cars, Terry was always busy working on something. But no matter what the job, he did it all to take care of the greatest love of his life, his wife and kids. A man of many talents, he even taught the boys how to weld and run a cutting torch; and taught his daughter how to walk on stilts which he built for her.

Terry is survived by his wife Helen King of the home in Stockton; sons Skylar William Lynn King and Kayden Lee Edward king; daughter Laura Angel Christine King; uncle Karl King and wife Nadine of Alton; and aunt Mary King of California.

He was preceded in death by his mother Caroline Peggy King, and other family members Rich King, Leo King, Melvin King, Jim King, Betty Booth, Marilyn Bobbitt and Doug Pfeifer.

A loving family man, a good friend and neighbor, Terry leaves behind a legacy of what it truly means to live by the sweat of your brow. While he was never afraid of hard work, he also knew how to have fun and enjoy life. He will be greatly missed because he was greatly loved by family, friends, and coworkers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Main Street Christian Church in Stockton.

Lifelong Rooks County resident, Clara LeRock passed away January 14, 2016 at Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 93 and 12 days. Clara was born January 2, 1923 to J.J. and Rose (Ruzicka) Hrabe on their family farm. On October 30, 1940 she married Garth LeRock in Hays, Kansas and they made their home in Plainville. The were blessed with 2 sons, Gary and Allan.

Clara attended grade school at the Hrabe School House northeast of Plainville from 1929 to 1936. With the farm being 1 ½ miles from the school and her being the only girl in the family along with 3 brothers, she rode a horse to school while the brothers walked. This earned her the family nicknamed “Babe.” After grade school she graduated from Stockton High School with the Class of 1940. Her family was so proud of her because she was the only one to earn a high school diploma.

For fun and entertainment, Clara’s family organized a Polka band and played for local dances. Clara played piano while her parents and brothers played drums, violin, trumpet and accordion. She passed on her love of music to her children and grandchildren. Then after retirement, she and Garth joined the Rookies Camping Club and went camping with friends. Enjoying the time to relax and fish, sometimes they would even take some of the grandchildren with them.

Clara will be missed by friends and family, including her son Allan and wife Sheryl, who were her caregivers for the last several years, and Gary’s widow, Verlene LeRock; sister-in-law, Bonnie Hrabe, all of Plainville; 4 grandchildren, Deb and husband Curt Horton of Beloit, Gary Joe and wife Christine LeRock of Wichita, Sondra Hickert and husband Kevin of Hays, and Wes LeRock and wife Julee of Osborne; Thirteen great grandchildren, Erica, Katie, Hannah, Isaiah, Allyson, Garrison, Abigail, Victor, Whitney, Anna, Levi, Madison and Maverick; 7 great great grandchildren, Lily, Lucas, Collin, Gracie, Shiloh, Zion and Layton, 3 of which were all born within the last 4 months.

She was preceded in death by her husband Garth of 68 years on December 11, 2008. Her son Gary on March 21, 2012, and her infant great granddaughter Sloane LeRock on September 14, 1990; and her 3 brothers, Ted, Paul and Clarence Hrabe; 2 sister-in-laws, Mildred and Polly.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Plainville with burial following in the Plainville Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home and Monday from 9:30 until service time at the church.
