Richard E. “Dick” Casey, 74, Minneapolis, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 at his home. He was born September 10, 1941 on the farm near Minneapolis to Dean and Blanche (Weaver) Casey.

Dick was a 1959 graduate of Minneapolis High School. He worked construction for a short time before being employed by the City of Minneapolis where he worked for 42 years. Many of those years he was the Light Plant Supervisor. On November 4, 1961, Dick married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Anderson.

Dick was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he served faithfully as an usher. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Jaycees. He enjoyed his coin collection, loved to spend time at the farm, and hunting and fishing with his numerous friends. Dick made clocks out of barn wood and stained wood. Many clocks were given to family and friends.

Dick was always happy and never knew a stranger. He was a man with a big laugh that will never be forgotten.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Don, Robert, and infant John Casey.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dorothy of the home; son Michael Casey and his wife Julie of Overland Park; daughters Cathleen Yarochowicz and her husband Jay of Salina, and Cheri Shanks and her husband Monty of Blue Rapids; and grandchildren Kelsey, Kannon, and Kara Casey, Jacob Yarochowicz, Bailey and Brayden Boucek, and Mack Shanks.

Friends may sign the register book at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, on Tuesday, January 26 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. where a rosary and prayer vigil will be held at 4:00. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 27 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Minneapolis. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church or the Tammy Walker Cancer Center.

Jeanne Marie Bleadorn, 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Salina, KS on January 20, 2016.

A native of San Diego, California, she attended the University of Iowa and was a long term resident of Des Moines, Iowa. Jeanne was a member of First Federated Church where she served on the staff for many years. She was actively involved in many social causes including “right to life” and then helped to spearhead the call for community volunteerism under the guidance of Governor Terry Branstad during his first term in office.

She is survived by her brother Lt. Col Orville “Bud” Hay, USMC (ret.), her children; Dr. Michael Bleadorn (Glenna), Douglas Bleadorn, Julie Pipp (Dan) and Jeffery Bleadorn (Debbie) as well as four grandchildren, Spencer Bleadorn, Carolyn Heinz (Matt), Zachary and Hannah Pipp. She was preceded in death by her parents Orville Elias and Merdell G. Hay formerly of Lemon Grove, CA.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 28 at Ryan Mortuary in Salina, KS.

Carole Ann James, 77, of Abilene passed away Friday, January 22, 2016 at Salina Regional Heath Center. She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on March 15, 1938, the daughter of David and Bonnie (Chandler) Martin. Carole grew up in the Lincoln area where she spent much of her youth riding and showing quarter horses. She was crowned Nebraska Rodeo Queen in 1954 and graduated from Lincoln High in 1956. She attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority.

On March 23, 1969, Carole was united in marriage to William R. (Bill) James. In 1970, the couple moved to Abilene and established 3 J Ranch, where they lived until their respective deaths.

Carole was an active member of the Kansas and Nebraska Quarter Horse Associations and the American Quarter Horse Association. She was inducted into the KQHA Hall of Fame in 2010, after serving as the Association’s President. A caring and compassionate friend to all, Carole became “Grandma” to many who crossed her path. She lived every day to its fullest and never hesitated to help others, regardless of the amount of work involved. Carole was at her happiest taking care of those she loved and found a way to see the good in everyone. At 3J Ranch, the door was never locked, and everyone was welcome for dinner or the weekend. No reservations necessary.

Carole is survived by her daughter, Terry Stover of Abilene; four sons, Kelly and wife, Wendy, of Clay Center, Dee and wife, Anne Burke, of Leawood, Kansas, Lon and wife, Patricia, of Clay Center, Loy and wife, Kate, of Salina; former daughter-in-law, Debra Egli James; eighteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; her brother; David Martin and wife, Sue, of Lincoln, Nebraska; Sony Lowery, also of Lincoln, Nebraska; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents,
her husband, Bill, and her daughter, Diane Taber.

Funeral services for Carole will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016 at the LifeHouse Church, 420 N.W. 2nd Street, Abilene, with Pastor Kerry Coup officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery In Abilene. Family will receive friends for a Visitation on Thursday, January 28 from 5-7 p.m. at the LifeHouse Church and after 7:00 p.m. at the Shockey and Landes Building, 324 North Broadway, Abilene.

Beverly Barnett, 59 of Enterprise passed away January 22, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Abilene. She was born March 10, 1956 in Junction City, Kansas.. She graduated High School from Chapman in 1974 and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland. On May 17, 1974 she was united in marriage to Michael Barnett in Junction City. He preceded her in death October 5, 2015. Beverly is survived by her two sons, Terry and wife Alejandra of Fullerton, California and Rusty and wife Laura of Durham, North Carolina, three grandchildren, her mother, Juanita Muse of Enterprise, one brother, Russell Muse and two sisters, Penny Schmeidler and Doris Richardson.
Funeral Services for Beverly will be 1:30 P.M., Friday, January 29, 2016 at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Craig Officiating. Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Following the Service Friday cremation is planned with a private graveside service. E. ROXANNE CANNIZZO, 80 died January 23, 2016 at Leonardville Nursinghome in Leonardville, KS. She was born on January 26, 1935 in Mt. Vernon, NY, the daughter of David and Elinor (Price) Hensle. Roxy was raised in Cooperstown, NY and attended Knox College in Cooperstown. She married Thomas Cannizzo on September 3, 1960. Roxy worked as a legal secretary for many years and was an office manager for a dental office in Junction City before she retired. Thomas and Roxy have made their home in Wakefield for the past 49 years. She was a former member of P.E.O. in New York. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Floyd Allen.

Martha Rose “Marty” Hardy, 81, of Lindsborg, KS, passed away January 23, 2016.

She was born November 14, 1934, the daughter of Foster and Mary Jane (Bounds) Romine.

Marty was a lifelong member of the Methodist church, playing piano for choir and services for eight years. Her lifetime was spent primarily in the newspaper business as a writer, editor, and salesperson. After graduating from Hanover, Ohio at Toboso High School, she was offered a full ride scholarship to Ohio University. Her primary interest being clarinet – she eventually preferred marching band.

She and her last husband, Maurice Hardy, were stationed in Virginia, Kentucky, Kansas, stateside, but were shipped to Germany where they remained for several years living in Bamberg & Bad Weinstein, Bavaria. They traveled many historic sites, the home of the Passion Play performed every ten years – on the off year you could enjoy cast members on the streets, singing, carving, or just being visible. The area was great for flowers everywhere. They visited East Berlin, Czechoslovakia, Austria, and Switzerland.

Later in life, Marty became friends with a retired doctor, Barney Hurlbutt. Together they enjoyed three Caribbean cruises and one cruise to Canada, but the happiest memories of their life together was the time spent on the Maui coast with family and friends. The excitement of an authentic feast of Labtu, Clour, oysters, and fish. Another high point in Marty’s life was a trio of canasta friends who met weekly. They remained in her heart until death.

Marty is survived by her sons: William Crawford (Diane) of Hanover, OH, David Crawford (Jackie) of McPherson, and Ralph Hardy of Joplin, MO, five grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 27, from 4-7 pm at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, January 28, at Trinity United Methodist Church, with burial following at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.
