The Saline County Sheriff’s Office nabbed a 31-year-old man in the act of taking gas from a rural property in northeast Saline County Saturday morning.

Captain Roger Soldan said Garry Johnson had reported gas taken from a storage tank in the 500 block of N. Niles Road on January 9th and January 16th totaling $100.

On Saturday morning, the Sheriff’s Office staked out the location from a nearby dead end road, and just before 7 a.m., Jason Buster of Salina, arrived in a car with a near empty gas tank, and five empty gas cans.

Buster was arrested before he could take any gas.

He was booked into the Saline County Jail on requested charges of theft, attempted theft, trespassing, and a illegal tag on his car.
