Introducing Todd Brown, your BANK VI Hero of the Week!

Todd was nominated for providing a safe place for Salina’s youth to come and trade cards or play games.

Todd is the owner of The Arena, 427 S. Broadway, a business he has owned and operated for nearly 26 years. The Arena is a sports collectible and trading card business that he started in 1990. The business hosts many tournaments for games such as Magic: The Gathering and Warhammer Fantasy Battle. In addition to the tournaments, kids are allowed to come in and play almost anytime The Arena is open.

These types of games, as well as video games and other activities, that kids and young people from all walks of life come to The Arena to play. The Arena is a safe, fun, and comfortable environment for kids to be in and for over two decades, many have walked through the doors of the business, even those with special needs.

Todd says that for two regular visitors to The Arena, the business has turned their lives around. These two kids were regularly in trouble before they found The Arena and since coming to the business on a regular basis to play games, they no longer find themselves in trouble. Their parents are grateful for that as well. “As long as they keep their grades up, they get to come in,” Todd said.

Anyone that has grown up in Salina over the past 25 years has undoubtedly visited The Arena at some point and has always been made to feel welcome. It’s places like The Arena and business owners such as Todd that make Salina a better and safer place to live.
