Council Grove – Linda Lou Miller, 71, formerly of Dwight, Kansas, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016, at Salina Regional Health Center, with her family at her side.

She was born June 9, 1944 in White City, KS, the daughter of Edwin and Lillian (Griffith) Bowman.  Linda married Lloyd Duane Miller on January 16, 1961. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2011.

Linda worked at various jobs over the years.  The job she loved most was following Duane on his adventures.

She loved her family and her grandchildren were the light of her life.  At family gatherings, Linda enjoyed playing pitch and dominoes with her grandchildren. She loved listening to her grandson Taylor play the guitar and banjo. She never missed an event that her grandchildren were involved in.  Linda will be sadly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Duane, brother Donald, and sisters, Sandy, Glenna and Colleen.

Linda is survived by her children: Ron and Tammy Miller, of Harker Heights, TX and Sandy Anderson, of Salina, KS; five grandchildren:  Tyson and Jamie Anderson, of Marysville, Kylee Anderson, of Manhattan, Taylor Anderson, of Manhattan, Tanner and Sarah Miller of Harker Heights, TX, and Teri and Shane Glessner of Woodbine;  four great-grandchildren: Harper Lynn Anderson, Emery Lucille Miller, Easton Ross Glessner and Gage Duane Glessner; and two sisters, Maxine Gager, of Pahrump, NE and Sue Evans, of Manhattan.

Archie L Thorburn, 84, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, January 26th, 2016 Unexpectedly, at Omaha, Nebraska.

Archie was born in rural El Dorado, Missouri on February 25, 1931, a son of Lula Bell (Vincent) Thorburn-Adams and James Walton Thorburn.

Archie attended grade schools in Missouri and graduated from Nevada High School, Nevada, Missouri.

Archie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church McPherson, Kansas where he and his wife were faithful members, served their church in many capacities through the years and were the custodians for several years.

Archie honorably served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.

Through the years Archie worked as a mechanic for International Dealership in Lindsborg, Kansas, and later for N.C.R.A. “now CHS” as a Pipefitter Leaderman, and retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Following his retirement he began working as a driver for Midway Motors a job he loved.

Archie enjoyed restoring old cars, gardening and did a lot of canning, and was known for his T-Bone John’s recipe for Green Tomato Pickles and Hot Sauce.

Archie was united in marriage to Joyce A. Kasper-Williams on July 18, 1980 at Canton, Kansas. They established their first home together in McPherson, Kansas.

Archie is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 35 years, Joyce A. Thorburn, of McPherson, Kansas; his children, Connie Farnsworth and her husband Rick, of Canton, Kansas, Cindy Crane and her husband Willy, of rural Roxbury, Kansas, Kathy “Kat” Dwinell, of McPherson, Kansas, Brad D. Williams and his wife Renee, of McPherson, Kansas, and Tim Williams, of McPherson, Kansas; his siblings, Winfred Thorburn and his wife Mary, of Russelville, Arkansas and Evelyn Marti, of Pittsburg, Kansas; his 9 grandchildren, Brandy Wenthe and her husband Gale, Matthew Farnsworth and his wife Kiley, Cate Sharp and her husband Ron, Weston Mizell and his wife Jennifer, Zac Crane and his wife Alyson, Kylie Sutton, J.D. Williams, Erin Heinen and her husband Cody, and Jacayla Casebeer and her husband Jess; his 15 great-grandchildren, Bryce Wenthe, Braylan Wenthe, Jaxon Farnsworth, Emery Farnsworth, Ally Sharp, Brecken Sharp, Grace Mizell, Keaton Crane, Max Crane, Landri Crane, Ellana See, Samantha See, Kyndall Sutton, Deegan Heinen, Mali Casebeer and one on the way!; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Archie was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends are invited to call on Monday, February 1, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Calvary Baptist Church, McPherson.

The funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, McPherson, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 1, 2016, with Pastor Dan Cate officiating.

The final resting place will be at the Canton Township Cemetery Canton, Kansas with military honors presented by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 and the American Legion Post 24 both of McPherson.
