Salina Police are investigating a case of embezzlement of a business. Between November 12th and January 9th, someone wrote unauthorized checks on the account of Bill’s Truck and Auto, 615 Bishop, totaling $1,389.75.

A counterfeit $20 bill was found in the receipts of Pizza Hut, 1200 S. Santa Fe. It was discovered at the restaurant on Friday, January 29th and reported on January 30th.

Several guns were taken in a vehicle burglary between Saturday evening and Sunday morning. The guns were in a unlocked pickup owned by Cole Leister of Salina, which was parked in the 400 block of Regent Road. Taken were a Henry lever action .22 rifle, a Benelli 90 synthetic 12 gauge shotgun, a Remington 770 .270 bolt action rifle, camouflage back pack, a battery pack for jump starts, and two K-Bar knives. Total loss has been estimated at $1,420.

Two Texas runaways were taken into custody late Sunday afternoon after deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in a car along Interstate 70, about 10 miles west of Salina. Saline County Sheriff’s Captain Roger Soldan said the pair, a 16-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, left Springtown, Texas late Saturday night in a car belonging to the girl’s grandmother. They had run out of gas, and were horsing around with each other, when deputies arrived. They were taken into custody for possession of stolen property.
