Salina Police arrest a 20-year-old man after he wrecks a stolen car he was driving early Saturday morning.

Captain Mike Sweeney said officers tried to stop a silver Nissan Maxima about 1:30 a.m. at Ohio and Prescott that was thought to have been connected to a robbery case they were investigating.

The driver of the car John Grennan did not stop and led officers on a chase that reached speeds up to 45 mph on several streets and the parking lots of the YMCA and Kenwood Cove, before coming to a stop at the intersection of Iron Street and Penn Avenue, when the car hit barricades at the Iron Street construction project.

Grennan got out and ran, before being apprehended. Police found Grennan had a small amount of marijuana and methamphetamine on him. The owner of the car, Jasmine Buster, said the car had been taken from the 900 block of Highland. The keys had been left in the car.

Grennan was booked into the Saline County Jail on requested charges of flee and elude, reckless driving, possession of marijuana and methamphetamine, and possession of stolen property.
