Kelvin-Geering-1461410952Kelvin D. Geering, 63, of Salina, went to his Eternal Home on April 21, 2016 at Salina Regional Health Center, surrounded by his family and those he loved.

Kelvin was born in Abilene, Kansas on July 18, 1952. He was raised in Browns Park south of Abilene, by his parents, Paul and Alvena (Longhofer) Geering. As a boy, he loved roaming the countryside, riding his horses, and helping his mother and father with the chores. Kelvin spent a lot of time at Old Abilene Town, where his father, Paul was the first sheriff, better known as Wild Bill Hickok. He attended school in Abilene and was a graduate of Abilene High School.

On August 4, 1969, Kelvin was united in marriage to Karen I. Vaughn. To this union three daughters and two sons were born. They later divorced.

Kelvin moved to Salina in 1997 and married Crystal Liles on February 14, 2001. Together they raised Registered Texas Longhorns. They traveled various states with his prize longhorn steer “Peanut”, whom he entered in Total Horn Shows, and won numerous trophies and awards.

Kelvin was a truck driver throughout his life. His CB handle was the “Road Ranger”. He drove for Ralston Purina, Berven Transportation, and Roadway Express, later known as YRC, until his retirement in 2013.

Kelvin is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Alvena Geering; sons, Clinton James and Shane Justin; and biological father, John Dobkins, Sr.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Crystal, of the home; daughters, Yvonne Geering, of Bennington, Kansas, Shadra Alvarez, and her husband Daryl, of Leawood, Kansas, and Tanya Geering, of Abilene, Kansas; step daughter, Ericka Young, of Bennington, Kansas; grandchildren, Brittnay VanDeCreek, and her husband Rick, Colten Picking, and Calliope Geering, all of Abilene,Kansas, Corporal Brent D. Belk USMC, Kylee Jones, of Salina, and Kloe Young, of Bennington, Kansas; great grandchildren, Cora and Cashden VanDeCreek; sister, Lisa Forrester; brother, John Dobkins, Jr.; biological mother, Lola Miller; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

At Kelvin’s request, cremation was chosen. A Celebration of life will be held in Brown Memorial Park, south of Abilene, on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.

center-149x195-4201896Beau William Miller, 36, Enterprise, Kansas passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 with his family by his side at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, awaiting a heart transplant. He was born August 4, 1979 in Abilene, the son of Bill and Vicky (Linder) Miller.
Beau graduated from Chapman High School in 1997 and went to Vo-Tech in Salina, earning a degree in Auto Paint and Body Repair. Beau is survived by his parents, Bill and Vicky Miller, Enterprise. Two brothers: Matt and his wife Diana Miller, Abilene and William Miller, Vail, Colorado. Grandfather, William Miller of Enterprise and grandmother, Doris (Linder) Hoover of Abilene, special friend, Tena O’Dell of Manhattan and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Louise (Zey) Miller and grandfather Ray Linder.
Beau resided in the Manhattan area for many years working as an auto painter. He enjoyed restoring classic cars, flying his powered parachute as well as his radio controlled airplanes.
Funeral at 10 AM, Monday, April 25th at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Abilene. Interment following at Mt. Hope Cemetery, south of Enterprise. Rosary will be 5:30 PM, Sunday, April 24th at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, Abilene with visitation following. Memorials suggested to Dickinson County Foundation for the “Beau Miller Memorial Scholarship for Auto Paint and Body School”. TAMPA – Brayden Christopher Axelrad, 2 mo. 10 days

Funeral services for Brayden C. Axelrad, infant son of Jason C. and Jennifer A. (Stimson) Axelrad of Tampa; will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, April 27th, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church in Tampa.  Burial will follow at the Tampa Community Cemetery (formerly Hackler Cemetery), with Rev. Clark Davis, officiating.

Brayden was born on Feb. 10th, 2016, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita; he died April 20th, 2016, at the Herington Municipal Hospital.

He  is survived by his parents, a sister: Natalie Leanne Axelrad, (age-5) of Tampa; he is also survived by his maternal grandparents: Rhonda & Gavin Diehl of Burrton, Dean Stimson of Muldrow, OK; paternal grandparents Jim and Pam Axelrod of Ft. Smith, AR; and many cousins.
