vet_ffffffbal60504William F. Baldwin, 94, Salina, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016. He was born March 1, 1922 in Jewell, Kansas to Arvel P. and Myrtle Olive (Deitch) Baldwin. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Army Medical Corps. On May 6, 1945, he married Kathleen Mowers at the First Christian Church in Jewell, Kansas. William and Kathleen were about to celebrate seventy-one years of marriage. For over 40 years, he and his brother, Fred Baldwin, operated Baldwin Brothers Furniture in downtown Salina.

He was a member of the First Christian Church, the V.F.W., and Elks Lodge.

William is survived by his wife, Kathleen; son Alan Baldwin of Manhattan, Kansas; daughter Rebecca Mueller and husband Don of Riverside, California; brother Fred Baldwin and wife Carol of Salina; and two grandchildren, Matthew Mueller and Ashley Mueller.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Maxine Blacker, Thelma Elniff, Berniece McElroy and Mary Lou Train.

Visitation will be from 1- 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 7th and from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday May 8th at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th, Salina. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 9th at Ryan Mortuary with Rev. Greg Rea officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9th in the Wallace Cemetery, Jewell, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church or the American Heart Association, in care of Ryan Mortuary.

HERINGTON – Donna Rae Collins, 83, former resident of Herington, died Tuesday, December 15th, 2015, at Salina.  She was born on October 21, 1932,  the daughter of Herbert A. and Retha M. (Caven) Fall.

Memorial services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, May 27th, 2016, at the First Christian Church of Herington.

She was a homemaker.  She was a member of the First Christian Church, Herington, in her earlier years played the piano and organ; and she also learned to play the violin.  She was a nurse’s aide prior to a violent automobile accident in 1964.  She graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1950.

Married Frank Dana Collins on January 13, 1951, in Herington; he preceded in death on May 25, 2004.  She is also preceded in death by a 2 day old infant daughter Linda Jolene Collins on December 15, 1951; and her parents.

She is survived by her two (2) daughters: Nancy Cox (husband-Mike) of Harmony, Minn., and Janet Smith (husband-Bill) of Salina; a sister Jennie Gillett of Casper, WY; a grandson John Cox (wife-Christine), and a great-granddaughter Carli-Jo Cox all of Elkton, SD.  She is also survived by three (3) nieces: Elsie Kandt, Jayme Orr, & Julie Johnson; and two (2) nephews: Chuck Payne & Russ Gillett.

The family requests memorials to the Salina Animal Shelter (due to her deep love for dogs); and may be sent in care of the Zeiner Funeral Home, Herington Chapel, 404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS, 67449-3038.

Violet l. “Vi” Martin, 90, died May 5, 2016 at her residence in Chapman, KS. She was born on January 21, 1926 in Bristow, Oklahoma, the daughter of Earl and Nellie (Butterfield) Smith.
Vi was raised in Denver, CO. She married Malen Powell in 1948, they later divorced. Vi then married James Martin in 1971. They made their home in the Wakefield area since 1974. She was a member of NARFE. Vi was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

Survivors:

Husband: Jim Martin of Chapman, KS

Son: Clinton Powell of Abilene, Kansas

Son: Brice Powell of Thornton, Colorado

4 Grandchildren and 4 Great-grandchildren

Graveside Services will be held on May 11, 2016 Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Highland Cemetery in Wakefield KS.

Officiating the service will be Pastor Kent Happel.

Visitation will be held on May 10, 2016 Tuesday from 3:00 PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Chapman High School Scholarship Fund and can be sent in care of the funeral home.

Hillsboro – Ruth E. Neufeld, 93, passed away May 5, 2016 at Newton Medical Center.  she was born July 17, 1922 to Dietrich and Marie (Krause) Heidebrecht in Hillsboro.  She was Missionary and homemaker.  She married Alvin H. Neufeld June 3, 1945.  Survivors include: sons, Philip (Vicki) Charlotte, N.C., Stanley (Carla) McPherson; daughters, Phebe Goldsmith Springfield, MO, Naomi Jeanne (Harold) Wiebe of Newton, Becky (John) Wall Selma, CA; sister, Elfrieda Fast Hillsboro; 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.  Predeceased by her husband Alvin H. Neufeld in 2011.  Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2016 at Ebenfeld M.B. Church officiated by Pastor Jerred Unruh.  Family will receive guests from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at the Church on Monday.  Interment 10:30 a.m. Monday at Ebenfeld Cemetery.  Condolences to Parkside or Kidron Bethel in care of Jost Funeral Home P.O.
