City of Abilene Names Mike Marshall as Police Chief

APD logo_thumbThe City of Abilene has named Michael Marshall to serve as Police Chief of the Abilene Police Department. Marshall will assume the duties of the position on May 17, 2016.

Michael has over thirty years of experience in law enforcement with the Salina Police Department, to include serving as Patrol Officer, Detective, Dispatcher, Lieutenant, the Commander of Drug Task Force, Captain of Patrol, and Deputy Chief of Administration. Mr. Marshall served in the capacity of the Deputy Chief of Administration for a little over twelve years.

“Michael brings a level of knowledge and experience that was unmatched in the selection process,” says City Manager David Dillner.

While serving as Deputy Chief, Michael prepared as managed the Salina Police Department’s $8 million budget, oversaw the payroll for the 113 member department, directly supervised the Salina Police Department’s Records Division, Training Unit, Evidence Section, and Communications Section. Michael’s professional education and training includes the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, the Kansas Association Chief’s of Police Command Development, Kansas Police Administration School, and the International Association Chief of Police
