Authorities in Dickinson County have arrested an Enterprise woman in connection with the death of her child.

Dickinson County Sheriff Gareth Hoffman tells The Salina Post that deputies were notified by personnel at Abilene Memorial Hospital at about 10 p.m. Monday night after an unresponsive 13-month-old male child was brought into the emergency room.

Hoffman said the child, identified as Maddox Jones, was brought to the hospital from his home in Enterprise by family members, including his parents and a grandparent. He was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department determined the child’s death was suspicious in nature and immediately opened an investigation.

Hoffman said the child had visible injuries.

Several interviews were conducted and an autopsy was performed. Based on evidence obtained as a result of the investigation, the child’s mother, 29-year-old Jessica Stinnett, was arrested and booked into the Dickinson County Jail on requested charges of 1st degree murder and child abuse.

Hoffman said the investigation into the case is ongoing.
