A Salina man is in custody after allegedly strangling a woman and injuring a toddler early Monday morning.
Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney tells The Salina Post that officers were sent to the north Salina residence of a woman at about 4 a.m. in response to a domestic disturbance.
Sweeney said the woman reported that she had been arguing with 24-year-old Kyle Cook.
Cook is alleged to have held the woman against her will for two hours, strangled her to near unconsciousness, and struck her several times, leaving bruises. He also punched a hole in a door, and broke the woman’s cellular telephone.
During the course of the incident, Cook also allegedly threw a female toddler onto a bed, leaving a red mark on her forehead.
Sweeney said Cook was located near the residence and placed under arrest.
He was booked into the Saline County Jail on requested charges of aggravated battery, child abuse, damage to property, and criminal restraint.
