Police Interrupt Late Night Swim

7-15 Kenwood CoveIt would not be uncommon in the recent hot weather to find people trying to cool off by swimming at Salina’s Kenwood Cove. However, taking a dip at the Cove a little after 1 a.m. is frowned upon.

Police Captain Mike Sweeney said an officer found five males ranging in age from 11 to 19 at the water park early Thursday morning.

The group had scaled the fence to gain entry to the facility.

19-year-old Andrew Wood of Salina was arrested on three counts of contributing to a child’s misconduct, three counts of endangering a child, trespassing, and consumption of alcohol by a minor.

18-year-old Christopher Shields was cited with trespassing.
