An Ellsworth man is in the Saline County Jail after allegedly leaving the scene of an accident early Wednesday morning.
Saline County Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Heinrich tells The Salina Post that 28-year-old Corey Hill struck the rear-end of a tanker semi while driving his Chevy Suburban near mile post 78 on Interstate 135 at about 5:50 a.m.
Hill and the truck both pulled over after the collision. Hill then fled the scene moments later.
Heinrich said deputies located Hill about 15 minutes later near mile post 82, about four miles north of the accident scene. He was taken to Salina Regional Health Center for an assessment to determine if his condition or possible impairment were factors in the accident.
The truck driver, whose name was not released, was not injured.
According to Saline County records, Hill was booked into jail on requested charges of leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence, and following too close.
