fri60830Maynard Ray Fritz, 57, of Salina, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016. Maynard was born Nov. 11, 1958, in Clay Center, the son of Warren and Shirley (Hardesty) Fritz.

He was raised in Clay Center and was a graduate of Clay Center High School. He graduated from Brown Mackie of Salina in 1978 with an associate degree in business administration and accounting. He worked in the accounting departments of Commercial Electric, Big Wheels, McCune Paper Co. and MCDS (Multi Community Diversified Services Inc.).

Maynard was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Salina.

Maynard married Peggy Lou Oberhelman on Sept. 4, 1982, and raised four children in Salina. He loved local youth sporting events and antique auctions.

Survivors include wife, Peggy Fritz, of Salina; three sons, Nathan and Ryan Fritz, of Phoenix, and Aaron Fritz, of Fort Scott; daughter, Heather (Fritz) Knudsen and husband Brett, of Olathe; and granddaughter, Zoey Knudsen. He also is survived by his parents, Warren and Shirley Fritz, of Clay Center; brother, Martin and wife Karen Fritz; and sisters, Warene and husband Philip Stinemetz and Valerie and husband Kevin Parker.

Friends and family are welcome to visit at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Funeral services will be immediately after at 11:30, with Pastor Geske officiating at the mortuary. Burial will be private in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the local Boy Scouts or American Diabetes Association.

Landon Cory Knight, infant son of Cory Knight and Annie Sweeney, was stillborn Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, at Salina Regional Health Center.

Cory is the son of Gordon and Machel Barr, of Gypsum, and Annie is the daughter of Jim and Kathy Sweeney, of Salina. Other survivors include many aunts, uncles and cousins; and great-grandparents, Marie Barr, Don and Dannie Tillberg, and Helen Sweeney.

Landon was very much loved and touched many lives even before he was born.

Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Salina, with burial in Gypsum Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 1 p.m. until services Sunday.

Memorials are to the Landon Cory Knight Memorial Fund. Ryan Mortuary, Salina, is in charge.

vet_ffffffHoward Habluetzel, Jr. 80 years died September 3, 2016 at in Clay Center, KS. He was born on November 19, 1935 in Clay Center, Kansas. The son of Howard Habluetzel, Sr and Lavone Walker.

Howard attended Longford Schools and graduated from CCCHS in 1954. He was a member of the National Guard. He worked for COOP, Clay Center Dehydrating, C&W Rural Electric and drove trucks for Carlson Trucking and Case Trucking. He retired in 2013. He was a member of the Clay Center United Methodist Church and former member of BPOE and Kiwanis Club of Clay Center. He is preceded in death by Son, Terry in 1997 and one brother.

Burial: Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Clay County, Kansas

Visitation: Friday, September 9, 2016 from 3 to 8pm at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home with family greeting friends from 5-7.

Memorials: Meadowlark Hospice or Clay Center United Methodist c/o funeral home.
