UPDATE: One woman was hospitalized after a two vehicle accident Tuesday morning.

Salina Police Officer Kyle Jacobs said 92-year-old Kathleen Harlow was northbound on Ohio in her 2003 Ford Explorer Sport, and attempting to turn left onto Elm Street, when she was struck by a southbound 2012 Chevy Impala taxi driven by 40-year-old Jennifer Appleby.

The collision caused Harlow’s vehicle to rollover onto its side.

Jacobs said Harlow had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was taken by ambulance to Salina Regional Health Center for minor, non-life threatening injuries.

Appleby, and a passenger in the taxi whose name was not released, were not injured.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, according to Jacobs.

First responders were called to the scene of a two vehicle accident at an east Salina intersection late Tuesday morning.

The accident, which left one vehicle on its side, occurred at about 10:30 a.m. at Ohio and Elm Streets.

One person was extricated from the overturned vehicle and taken to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment. There was no immediate word on the extent of that person’s injuries.

The southbound lanes of Ohio Street, from Elm Street to North Street, have been closed while first responders work to clear the scene.

More information is expected to released at a later time.
