3915338_wlppVerneda Belvill was born July 17, 1937 to Ralph Harris and Thelma Doering – Harris. She grew up north of Minneapolis on a farm with her siblings Bill, Beverly and Sheryl.

She graduated from Minneapolis High School in 1955. She married John Welch on July 17, 1955. They moved to Colorado where they had 3 children Renee, Perry and Melanie.They divorced in 1968. In the summer of 1982 Verneda moved back to Minneapolis. She retired from Phillips Manufacturing in 2001. In the fall of 1982, Verneda married Dwayne Belvill and moved to a farm north of town. She loved gardening and having family around for dinners and celebrating birthday’s. Dwayne’s children Brenda Blake and Darwin Belvill were loved very much.

With the passing of her husband Dwayne and failing health, Verneda moved back to Colorado.

She became active in her church where she was a part of the Women’s Ministry team and later became a Deacon. She helped serve many people in need and was always willing to spread the love of Jesus to anyone who would listen.

Verneda moved into the Lighthouse Assisted living in April 2016 until she passed away on September 18, 2016.

Verneda was preceded in death by her husband Dwayne Belvill, her mother and father Ralph and Thelma Harris, brother Bill Harris, sister Beverly Boss, Step-son Bill Blake and one granddaughter Hannah Welch.

Verneda is survived by – Sister Sheryl Johnson of North Carolina, Sister in law Ann Harris of Dodge City – Daughter Renee Couch of Littleton,CO., Son Perry and Dawn Welch of Falcon, CO., Daughter Melanie, and Michael Linnebur of Littleton, CO, Stepdaughter Brenda Blake of Minneapolis, KS., and Darwin and Leslie Belvill of Minneapolis Kansas. Her grandchildren Cory Couch, Zachariah Welch, Tristan Welch, Eric Linnebur, Adam Linnebur, Tyler Linnebur, Caleb Linnebur – Stepgrandchildren – Wade Blake, Brady Blake, Barry Blake, Allison Belvill, Drew Belvill, Brettany Belvill. She also has 10 great grandchildren and numerous Nieces, Nephews and family members.

She will be missed.

Services will be held at Wilson Funeral Home in Minneapolis, Kansas on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis.

van61005Arlene VanCleef, 97, of McNeil, AR, formerly of Salina, KS, passed away at her daughter’s home on Wednesday, October 5, 2016.

Arlene was born on March 16, 1919 in Salina, KS to the late Walter and Ruth (Durant) Benz. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Salina, KS. She was a homemaker and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and was admired for her cross stitch and crochet needlework.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Earl VanCleef; son Roger VanCleef; sisters Betty Thompson, Dorothy Gash, and Jane Laun. Survivors include her daughter Sandy Lewis of McNeil, AR; daughter in law Kathryn VanCleef of Florence, AL; grandchildren Kelly McGahey and husband Charles of Killen, AL, Kevin VanCleef and wife Denise of Memphis, TN, DeeDee Foster and husband Denny of McNeil, AR, Jennifer Adkins and husband John of Magnolia, AR; great grandchildren Benz McGahey and Erin McGahey of Killen, AL, Allie VanCleef and Robert VanCleef of Memphis, TN, and Laurel Adkins of Magnolia, AR; and a host of extended family and friends.

A visitation with the family will be Saturday, October 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia, AR. A visitation will be Monday, October 10 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary in Salina, KS with graveside services following at 2:30 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Ed Foster officiating.

3913635_wlppFreda L. Radcliffe, age 61, entered into rest on October 4, 2016, at her residence in Concordia. She was born August 14, 1955 in Concordia, Kansas to Clifford J. and Gladys J. (Walden) Radcliffe.
She was a 1973 graduate of Concordia High School. Freda received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social work from Kansas State University.
She was a social worker and case manager for the Pawnee Mental Health. Freda should be remembered and admired for all her resilience, in overcoming multiple medical trials. When all was said and done she maintained a positive attitude and shared that with those she loved.
She was member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she served as youth leader for many years. She was also a past member of the American Legion Women’s Aux. Post #76.
Her hobbies included textile painting on tea towels and punch rugs.
Survivors include her brother, James “Jim” Radcliffe (Dianne) Runaway Bay, Tx., and their children, Niece, Tia Langston (Mark) Somersworth, New Hampshire, and their children, Kristin Langston, Waterford, Ct.; Tim Beaulieu (Elidia) and their children Nashaly Elizabeth & Ann; Nephew, Tege Radcliffe, Runaway Bay, Tx.; brother, Richard “Rick” Radcliffe (Sherrie), Concordia; Niece, Jillian Richard (Craig), and their children, Griffin and Evie all of Leawood, Ks.
Freda was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. Family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 21, 2016 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Tempero officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Dorothy J. Kenworthy, age 89, died Wed., Oct. 5, 2016 at McKinney Health & Rehab, McKinney, TX. She was born on March 20, 1927 in Jamestown, KS to Hart Carl & Loretta Madeline (Lyon) Holt.

She married Arthur Kenworthy on Jan. 2, 1963 in Denver, CO and he preceded her on May 11, 2015. She was homemaker and bookkeeper for Montgomery Wards.

She is survived by her sons, JR Kenworthy (Paula) McKinney, TX, Jim Rodgers (Bahar) Colorado Springs, CO & John Rodgers (Kathy), Topeka; daughters, Lori Kenworthy, McKinney, TX & Minnie Kaye Beegle, Tampa, FL; 9 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; her parents; daughter, Barbara Campbell & step-daughter, Susie Albertson; brother, Bernard Holt & 2 grandchildren.

Stratman Hunter and was a lifetime Geneseo resident.  She was a farm wife and secretary for Geneseo and Ellsworth Public Schools.  Following her retirement she was a cook for Cornerstone Daycare in Lyons.  She graduated from Geneseo High School in 1949.  Estelle was a member of the United Methodist Church, Geneseo; past 4-H leader; member of the Y2 Camping Club; Sunday School teacher; financial secretary for the United Methodist Church, Geneseo for many years; and state and national Spam contest winner in 2010.  She married Charles Lee Schmidt on October 2, 1949 in rural Geneseo.  He died on August 1, 2002.  Survivors include her son, Lindsay and Rhonda Schmidt, Geneseo; Daughter, Rhonda and Larry Bartlett, Athens, TX;  2 brothers, Homer Hunter, Monument, KS. and Wayne Hunter of Sterling; 2 sisters, Joan Kruse, Liberal and Phyllis and Scott Gray of Black Wolf, KS;  5 grandchildren, Amy and Sean Feldman, Lyons, Tracy and Jeff Vaughan, Salina, Heather and Dave Brittain, Hutchinson, Courtney and Josh Hensley, Maize, and Luke Sanders, Athens, TX;  14 great-grandchilden, Arika and Kade Feldman, Killian and Jael Vaughan, Logan and Kody Sanders, Lacey, Lindy, Cayden, and Taylor Brittain, Alyssa Land, Kaylee, Jared and Jack Hensley.  She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Warren Schmidt; 2 brothers, John and Clayton Hunter; and a sister, Velta Joyce Hunter.  Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 10, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Geneseo with Rev. Guy Rendoff officiating.  Burial will be in the Geneseo Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2:00 – 7:00 P.M. vet_ffffffLuther Dean Baral, 88, of Bunker Hill, Kansas, died on October 06, 2016, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas.

A memorial service to celebrate Luther’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, October 10, 2016, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas, with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating.  Burial will follow at the Bunker Hill Cemetery in Bunker Hill, Kansas.  Cremation has preceded the services and family will greet guests the day of the service.  Memorials may be given to the Bunker Hill Community Center or the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240 and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
