Woman Injured in Rollover Accident

RolloverAn Abilene woman was injured in a rollover accident in Saline County Wednesday evening.

Saline County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Smith said 25-year-old Rebecca N. Smith was eastbound in her 2003 Ford Focus on Old 40 Highway near Donmyer Road at about 6:30 p.m., when she veered to the right and partially left the roadway.

She pulled back to the left and crossed the centerline and attempted to steer the vehicle back to the right, overcorrected again, and entered the ditch off the right side of the road.

Lt. Smith said the vehicle rolled over one time and came to rest on its tires. The vehicle was destroyed in the accident.

Smith, who is 7-months pregnant, was treated at the scene for a head injury and transported to Salina Regional Health Center for further evaluation. Her 4-year-old daughter, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was not injured, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Both Smith and her daughter were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to Lt. Smith.
