WEEK 7 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PREVIEW

high_school_footballSoutheast of Saline (6-0) at Marion (6-0) – 7 p.m.
The undefeated Southeast of Saline Trojans travel to Marion Friday night for a huge district contest against the undefeated Warriors. The Trojans will look to keep their perfect season intact, but that won’t be an easy task against an equally good Marion team. This game can be heard on the official home for Southeast of Saline athletics, 910 KINA, at 910 AM, 94.5 FM, online right here at SalinaPost.com and the TuneIn application. Pregame with Devin Hanney begins at 6:30 p.m.

Salina Central (0-6) at Maize (5-1) – 7 p.m.
Salina Central continues to look for their first win of the 2016 season. Getting that win Friday night will not be an easy task as the Mustangs travel to Maize to face the 5-1 Eagles, winners of their last three games, in a match-up of Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League schools. Central is 0-3 in league play, while Maize is 2-1, their lone loss coming at the hand of the Derby Panthers back in Week 3.

Salina South (0-6) VS. Derby (6-0) – 7 p.m.
Much like their crosstown rivals, the Salina South continue to search for their first win of the season. Trying to get that win this week will be a daunting task as the Cougars host an undefeated Derby team at Salina Stadium Friday night. The Panthers have easily defeated all of their opponents thus far this season by an average victory margin of 33 points. South, by comparison, has suffered an average margin of defeat of 20 points.

Sacred Heart (2-4) VS. Smith Center (4-2) – 7 p.m.
In Class 2-1A district 6 action Friday night, the Sacred Heart Knights will look to get back on the winning side of things when they host the Smith Center Redmen at the Graves Family Sports Complex in Salina. The Knights have lost four straight games. Their last win was back in Week 2 over Russell. Smith Center is the complete opposite. They’ve won four straight games and have not lost since Week 2.

Ell-Saline (3-3) at Republic County (2-4) – 7 p.m.
Also looking to get back on the winning side of things are the Cardinals of Ell-Saline. The Cardinals take a two game losing streak to Belleville Friday night, when they take on the Republic County Buffaloes in a Class 2-1 A, district 6 contest. After losing three straight, Republic County left Russell with a win last week. Tonight’s game has playoff implications for both teams.

St. John’s Military (0-5) VS. St. Mary’s Academy (4-0) – 7 p.m.
The St. John’s Military Muleskinners are another school in search of their first win of the season and getting that win will be a tough task Friday Night when the Muleskinners host the undefeated St. Mary’s Academy Crusaders. St. John’s will need a win to keep alive their hopes of making to the Kansas Christian Athletic Association Playoffs.
