MITCHELL COUNTY – A Kansas man was injured in an accident just after 8 p.m. on Wednesday in Mitchell County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2011 GMC Sierra pickup driven by Brett W. Zimmer, 43, Beloit, failed to yield right of way while attempting to make a left hand turn from a private drive just west of Main Street in Beloit.

The pickup struck the trailer of a semi that was eastbound on U.S. Highway 24.

Zimmer was transported to Mitchell County Hospital.

The semi driver, Ryan D. Waugh, 27, Beloit, was not injured.

Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
