Police Investigating Second Burglary of Downtown Businesses

business-burglaryFor the second time within a span of just a few days, Salina Police are investigating a second burglary at the same Salina businesses.

Captain Mike Sweeney said someone forced their way through a backdoor connecting several businesses in the 100 block of E. Iron, sometime between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Monday morning.

Once inside, the burglary forced entry into the Hello Kira Dance Studio, 121 E. Iron, and stole a Bose speaker dock for an iPhone valued at $400.

Sweeney said forced entry was also made to Iron Street Tattoo, 113 E. Iron. Taken from that business was a fire safe containing an undisclosed amount of cash and two Pop Vinyl Dragon Ball Z figures valued at $25 each.

Damage to the backdoor has been estimated at $100. Damage to the rear entrance to Iron Street Tattoo has been estimated at $300 and damage to the rear entrance to Hello Kira has been estimated at $200.

Less than 48 hours before this burglary, police were called to the same location in reference to a burglary that occurred between 10 p.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. Sunday.

Sweeney said the burglar made entry through the same backdoor, entered the tattoo parlor, and then punched out walls to gain entry to Salina Vapor, 117 E. Iron, and Income Tax Services, 115 E. Iron.

A silver iPhone 5, a Sentry digital safe containing $200, and a Wismec RX75 vape pen were taken from the tattoo parlor. No items were taken from the adjoining businesses.

There are no suspects in either burglary and it is not known of the two are connected, according to Sweeney.
