The Saline County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two individuals in connection with an August arson case.

Undersheriff Roger Soldan said an investigation by his agency led to the arrest of two Salina men, 23-year-old Travis Novak and 24-year-old Justin Beetch.

Rural firefighters were called to 10500 S. Gypsum Valley Road just after 2 a.m. on August 4th. They found a large hay shed owned by Jeff Knopf containing approximately 729 large alfalfa bales engulfed in flames.

The shed and hay bales, as well a JCB 416-HT wheel loader, were heavily damaged by the fire. Total loss from the fire was estimated at $341,500.

Soldan said an investigation led to the arrests of Novak and Beetch in connection to the fire. They were both arrested Friday.

Both men were booked on a requested charge of arson, according to Soldan.
