
Introducing Jim DuBois, your BANK VI Hero of the Week!
Jim was nominated for the many outstanding ways he has served the Salina Community for well over two decades.
In 1990, Jim was the first D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Officer in Salina. He oversaw elementary, middle school and high school D.A.R.E. programs. He also served as a trainer for the D.A.R.E. program as well as a trainer for the G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education And Training) program.
He also oversaw a local youth offender program in Salina that aided and assisted troubled youth is Salina as well as first time offenders with being productive in society. “I still hear from some of them and some of them have become really successful,” he said.
Jim also served 10 years as a member of the USD 305 Salina Public Schools Board of Education. He assisted with revising and appointing policies for the district, as well the budget, and the hiring of at least two superintendants. He served a total of 2 1/2 terms with the Board.
Currently, Jim in his first term of service as the Saline County Treasurer, an office he has held for 3 years. The Treasurer is responsible for keeping financial records for Saline County as required by Kansas Statutes. In addition to his duties as Treasurer, Jim has most recently been assisting the County Clerks office in preparing for the upcoming election in November. He also assists the County Tax Office with tax collection in the early part of the year.
According to his nominator, Jim is a very hard worker at everything he does. “He has a huge heart,” she said.
