Randall Burton Phinney, 66, of Salina, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016. Randy, a longtime Salina resident, was born in Junction City. He was the second of four children of Al and Lavina Phinney.
Randy had many passions in life. He was an inventor and a skilled woodworker. Even as a child, there was nothing he liked better than taking something apart and trying to put it back together, starting with a television at age ten. He could fix anything. An avid music lover, he grew up with a jukebox in his basement.
He worked for Central Music Company, owned and operated Rangers Bar and Grill and was employed by Union Pacific Railroad as a yardmaster for the past 21 years. He was the beloved and devoted father to Troy Phinney and a grandfather to Holly and Brynn. He cherished his relationship with Troy and was dedicated to Judy Phinney and his brother Brad, as well.
Survivors include his son, Troy; brother, Brad; and sister, Connie Venuso. Nieces and nephews include Jason Jackson, Bret Venuso, Tracy Venuso, Sybil Kaspar and Robbie Stryker; and close relationships include Troy’s fiancée Sabrina, Sydney and Drew Storey, and Steve and Delicia Haly.
His sister Barbara and his parents preceded him in death.
He was adored and loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
Memorial service will be at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. Memorial donation can be made to ASPCA or the Saline County Humane Society.

Ottilie Keeler, 102, of Salina, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2016. She was born Sept. 11, 1914, to Emil and Antonia Leupold in Tecumseh. She married Harry Keeler on May 16, 1948.
“Tillie” lived most of her adult life in Wichita, moving to Salina in 2000. She enjoyed visits from the ministers of St. John’s Lutheran Church, family members and friends who came to see her at Presbyterian Manor. She took delight in her dear niece, Florence Vanover, who was her caregiver for many years.
Memorial service for her cremains will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at a graveside service in Penwell Gable Cemetery, Topeka. Memorials are suggested to Presbyterian Manor or the church.

Margaret Jane (Charbonneau) Thoman, age 91, of Jamestown, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia. She was born on July 15, 1925 at her home Southwest of Concordia to Homer and Kate (Donahoe) Charbonneau.
Jane attended Cloud County Country school District #49. Jane met the love of her life Wilfred “Tommy” Thoman they were married on November 13, 1946 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia. He preceded her in death May 16, 2011.
Jane was a lifetime resident of Cloud County a homemaker and farm wife. She will be dearly missed by her family.

EDMOND, OKLAHOMA – Pauline Ruth Edmunds, age 88, formerly of Marion, Kansas, passed from this world to her heavenly mansion on Saturday, October 15, 2-16. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Stanley Edmunds; parents, John Best and Viola Brubaker Best; and her brother, John A. Best. She is survived by her son Michael Edmunds and wife Diane of Covington, Kentucky; daughter Kathy Edmunds Logsdon and husband Phil of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Matthew Edmunds and wife Morgan of Hilton Head, South Carolina, Robert J. HERINGTON – Roxsann “Jo” Stevens, age 56, passed away October 23, 2016, at the Herington Municipal Hospital Emergency Room, Herington, Kansas. She was born March 16, 1960, at Oakland, California. She was the daughter of David and Arletta “Jodie” (Meeks) Weckerly. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the American Kennel Club and bred Chihuahua and Toy Fox Terriers. She was preceded in death by a son Jesse Stevens, a sister Susan Lawhorn and her parents. MARION – Leslie R. “Les” Broadstreet, age 99, formerly of Wichita, passed away October 22, 2016, at St. Luke Living Center, Marion, Kansas. He was born May 5, 1917, in Seneca, New Mexico, the son of Leo and Anna (Mundy) Broadstreet. On October 22, 1938, he was united in marriage to Bernice Schick. He was a Master Photographer, owning his own studios. He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice on July 31, 2015. He is survived by his sons: Gailen Broadstreet of Parker, Kansas; and Rand Broadstreet of Northfield, Ohio; 4 grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

Eugene E. Fisher, the son of Frank Fisher and Beulah (Kopsa) Fisher, was born November 30, 1923 in rural Cuba, KS and passed away on October 22, 2016 at the Republic County-Long Term Care, Belleville, KS at the age of 92 years, 10 months, and 22 days.
Eugene grew up in the Cuba, KS area, attending the Beebe Grade School, and later Cuba High School, graduating in 1942. Following his graduation, he assisted on farms and did farm work for several years. He then began working for Stone Construction in Belleville, KS where he eventually became co-owner, retiring in 1976 after over 40 years with the company.
On April 20, 1950, he was united in marriage to Melva J. Jakabosky and to this union was born two sons, Guy and Gary. The couple made their home in rural Cuba, before settling in Belleville, KS where they lived for many years.
Eugene was a Belleville City Councilman for several years, and served with the local Civil Defense.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Melva on October 15, 2004, son, Gary on November 29, 2015, and one brother, Vernon L. Fisher.
Eugene is survived by his son, Guy (Vickie) Fisher of Atlantic, Iowa; two grandsons, Matthew Fisher of Des Moines, Iowa and Daniel (Selma) Fisher of Sutton, England; one great granddaughter, Alexandra Fisher; one sister, Irene Richecky Saip of Enterprise, KS; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Bachelor-Surber Memorial Chapel, with Reverends Guy and Vickie Fisher, officiating.
Interment will be at the National Bohemian (Kopsa) Cemetery, rural Cuba, KS.

Neva Evelyn Marshall passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Solomon Valley Manor in Stockton, Kansas at the age of 104. She was born on September 9, 1912 on the family farm south of Webster, Kansas to the late Lee and Lizzie (Veverka) Bray. She attended schools in Webster and Stockton graduating from Stockton High School with the Class of 1931. She later attended Fort Hays State College where she received her teaching degree in elementary education.
After graduation from high school, Neva was united in marriage to Warren Dunning. They had two sons, Warren Lee and Roger. In 1940 she married Ferrel Marshall. Together they had one daughter, Gloria Jean.
Neva was a dedicated teacher. She taught grades 1-8 in three Rooks County schools as well as Kindergarten in Stockton. She and husband Ferrel owned and operated a family dairy. She worked in the Stockton grocery and appliance stores and also as a bookkeeper for Ostmeyer Implement Company. She continued working as a Senior Companion , in order to help others, until the age of 95.
Neva is survived by her son Roger Dunning and wife Lorrie of Atchison; grandchildren Bruce Dunning, David Dunning, Dale Dunning, Klark Dunning, Tom Dunning, Angie (Havlas) Kollman, and Scott Havlas; great-grandchildren Stephanie Dunning, Alex Dunning, Nathan Kollman, Katie Kollman, Kyle Kollman, and Nick Kollman; and numerous dear and loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lee and Lizzie Bray, husbands Warren Dunning and Ferrel Marshall, son Warren Dunning, and daughter Gloria Jean.
Neva was loved by family, friends, and the wonderful caregivers at Solomon Valley Manor. Her loving and caring spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Stockton City Cemetery in Stockton, KS. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00am on Thursday at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home in Stockton, prior to the service.

Donald Lee Hawk, 78, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016 at Lindsborg Community Hospital. He was born on Sept. 14, 1938 to Ralph and Leona (Youngquist) Hawk in Lindsborg, Kansas. He is survived by his wife, Maj-Britt and sons John Hawk and David Hawk (Svetlana) and grandchildren Eric (Carmen), Briton, Michael and Julia Hawk. Preceding him in death were his parents and his sister Lois and brother-in-law, Carl Julius of Salina.
Don served as a Lutheran Pastor in San Francisco and Kansas City before becoming the Chaplain at Bethany Home in Lindsborg. He ministered to the residents for 24 years before retiring in 2006.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Salemsborg Lutheran Church on November 1, 2016 at 2:00 PM followed by fellowship and visiting with the family in the fellowship hall.

Joy Phinney Jillson, 97, of Russell, Kansas, died on October 24, 2016, at the Main Street Manor in Russell, Kansas.
Joy was born on April 07, 1919, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of C.M. and Leta (Smith) Phinney. She grew up in Russell, attended local schools and graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1936. After high school, she attended the Salina Business College. She was married in 1944, to Joe R. Jillson and divorced in 1961. She lived away from Russell for many years, living in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Dallas, Texas. She returned to Russell, Kansas, in 1972, making it her permanent home for the rest of her life. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Russell. She was also a member of the Russell Historical Society and the Russell Hospital Auxiliary.
Surviving family include her nieces Diane Respensek, Cindy Kummer and nephew Dennis Phinney
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers James, Dick and Donald Phinney and a half brother C.M. Phinney, Jr.
