For more than 40-years, Jack Gallagher has served as the “Sergeant-at-arms” for Veterans ceremonies on Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Friday the retired Marine Corp Master Sergeant, and retired member of the Salina Police Department, presided a final time as “Sergeant-at-arms” at the Veterans Day ceremony at the War Memorial in Sunset Park.

Following remarks from Salina Mayor Kaye Crawford, the American Legion and V.F.W. and the large crowd in attendance took a few moments to honor Gallagher for his service.

At the conclusion of the 21-gun salute, Taps, and the benediction, Gallagher dismissed the Veterans one last time.
