Mike Bonner, who is no stranger to the indoor football game will be entering his eight season coaching professional indoor football and will be the Offensive Coordinator in his first season with the Salina Liberty.
Last season, he held the same position with the San Angelo Bandits. The Bandits finished 4th in passing offense with 2,513 yards and 56 touchdowns with 209 yards per game. Bonner has been a long time assistant in different leagues around the country with coaching stints with the Iowa Blackhawks 2005, Sioux City Bandits 2010, Richmond Revolution 2011, Laredo Rattlesnakes 2013, Alabama Outlawz 2014, and Green Bay Blizzard 2015.
Mike Bonner started his indoor playing career with the Iowa Blackhawks in 2004 before coaching in 2005 due to being sidelined for the season with a Compound Fracture and Skin Graft injury to his right forearm. He also spent time with the Missouri Minutemen in 2007 and Kansas Koyotes during the 2008 season.
Liberty Head Coach Eric Clayton welcomes Bonner’s talent. “Hiring Coach Bonner for the offense will help us tremendously after finishing in the bottom half in about every offensive category last season. He will bring a scheme that will highlight the talent of players like quarterback Josh Floyd and others that we recruited and signed for the upcoming season!”
Mike Bonner is a native of Omaha, Nebraska. He is single and a proud father of two kids Isaiah and Amari.
