Police Officer suffers minor injuries in traffic stop Wednesday afternoon

A Salina Police Officer was injured about 4:40 Wednesday afternoon during a traffic stop in the 600 block of Highland. Salina Police Sgt Brent Rupert talked with local media about the incident:

Officer Samuel Lada was taken to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment for minor injuries. The Driver of the car, 40-year-old Gary M. Gilbert of Salina was booked into the Saline County Jail late Wednesday night. Gilbert was booked into jail on the following requested charges:

Failure to appear
Aggravated battery on LEO; Body harm to officer with motor vehicle
Crim damage to prop;w/o consent <$1K Speeding; maximum limits Flee or attempt to elude LEO by engaging in reckless driving Driving While Suspended No Proof Of Insurance Interference w/ LEO; Felony obstruction Reckless Driving Reckless Driving Duty of driver to report accident with an unattended vehicle/property; 1st conv Speeding; maximum limits Improper driving on laned roadway Flee or attempt to elude; Commission of any felony Reckless Driving Driving While Suspended No Proof Of Insurance Failure to appear
