A 40-year-old Salina man was booked into the Saline County Jail late Wednesday night on several charges including aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer.

Gary M Gilbert is alleged to have drove off from a traffic stop in the 600 block of Highland Ave about 4:40p.m. dragging the officer who had reached into the station wagon Gilbert was driving.

A short time later the station wagon and Gilbert were spotted in on East Crawford, and when officers tried to stop the car, Gilbert sped away at a high speed. The chase ended at Wilson and Santa Fe.

Salina Police Officer Samuel Lada who was injured in the traffic stop on Highland was taken to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of minor injuries and released.

The following are requested charges for Gary M Gilbert who was booked into the Saline County Jail about 10:30p.m. Wednesday night:

Aggravated battery on LEO; Body harm to officer with motor vehicle
