Jeanne L. Morrell, 89, of Salina, passed away, Friday, November 25, 2016 at Salina Regional Health Center surrounded by family. She was born November 25, 1927 in Beloit to the late Laurence and Mabel Poelma. on June 3, 1951, she married the late Kenneth Morrell in Beloit, Kansas.
Jeanne attended and graduated St. John’s High School in Beloit. She then went to Marymount College in Salina, and achieved her bachelor’s degree as a registered nurse. She later attended Kansas University and received her master’s degree. She worked as a school nurse and at local hospitals for many years. In her spare time, she volunteered at the Salina Community Theatre, read many books and visited the library as often as she could. She enjoyed playing golf and cards, especially bridge, cross stitching, traveling with her family and friends, and attending all her grandchildren’s events. She founded a women’s group based on a community of friends who supported each other through spirituality and companionship.
Survivors include her sons, John and Denise Morrell of Wichita and Daniel Morrell of Salina; sisters, Laurene McCall of Wichita and Teddy Sherman of Bellevue, Wash.; grandchildren, Troy and Jessica Morrell, Ryan Morrell, Shaun and Noelle Morrell, Melissa and Justin Price, Trevor Morrell, and Paige Morrell; great-grandchildren, Dylan Morrelll Matthew Morrell and Madelyn Morrell, Zoe and Kenny Price, Lucy Boling, and Simon Morrell.
Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, at Ryan Mortuary, vigil will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church with Fr. Luke Thielen, as celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s or Salina Community Theatre and are in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth Street, Salina, Kansas 67401.

Gerald L. “Gary” Hunter, 80, of Salina, passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016. He was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Galesburg, the son of Bert and Evelyn (Oliver) Hunter. Gary graduated from Emporia State University in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in business. He married Barbara Baier, his wife of 55 years, in Garden City on June 3, 1961.
Gary began his accounting career with Kennedy and Coe in Salina. Before his retirement in 1997, he had become a senior partner of the firm. Gary served his country in the National Guard. He was very civic-minded and served on numerous boards, foundations and organizations statewide. He loved his family and enjoyed travel, golf and fishing.
Survivors include wife, Barb; son, Brian; daughters, Janis Lewis (Arron) and Betty Barnes; brother, Terry Hunter; sisters, Mary Bass and Judy Coots; grandchildren, Trisha Wood (Tony), Levi, Zach, Jacob, Abby, Jordan, Ashley and Evan and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Lexi.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry; and a sister, Anne Thomas.
Visitation for Gary will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov 29, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with a vigil service at 7. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Salina, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Catholic Charities of Salina.

Paul J. Gestl, Sr., 92, of Salina, went to heaven on November 23, 2016. He was born on May 5, 1924 in Allentown, PA to John and Mary Marie (Schrammel) Gestl.
Paul was a WWII veteran, serving as an engine and propeller mechanic and as military police. He then returned to Salina and held positions as a police officer, detective, and owner of Paul’s Café. He owned and operated Merchant Security and Special Police in Salina for 59 years and was a 50-year VFW member.
Paul was a devout Christian and stood for everything good! He was a dog lover, especially his Doberman Pinchers and Beagles.
Paul was an adoring father. He is survived by his wife of 20 loving years, Teresa (Floro) Gestl; daughter, Claire Mary Toll; sons, Frank, Steve, and John (Kim) Gestl; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Claire (Mohr) Gestl; brothers, John (missing in action, WWII) and Frank; sisters, Mary, Margaret, Cecelia, and Rose; and grandson, Frank “Jamie” Gestl.
Funeral services will be officiated by Fr. Kevin Weber at 11 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2016, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud, Salina. Burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday, December 1, from 4-8 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eight, with family present 6-8 and a vigil at 6:30.
Memorials may be made to Salina Animal Shelter or Food Bank in care of Ryan Mortuary.
