Plainville (11-2) led 17-14 at halftime before Franken’s touchdown catch gave Troy the lead. The Cardinals grabbed the lead back on Riley Nyp’s 3-yard TD run before Greaser connected with Winder on an 82-yard touchdown reception that proved to be the difference.
Hayden Friend had 109 yards rushing for Plainville, which rebounded from a 3-6 record a year ago to reach its first title game since 1985. Nyp finished with two touchdown runs.
