150x179-4670134Mass of Christian Burial for James V. “Jim” Baier, age 87, of rural Hope, will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the St. Columba Catholic Church in Elmo with Father Soosai Rathinam as Celebrant. Jim passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Abilene.
He was born June, 10, 1929 the son of James O. and Leona C. (Riffel) Baier. He graduated from Chapman High School and received his certificate for teaching. Jim taught for a few years in country schools and then farmed and raised cattle with his father most of his adult life.
On October 27, 1962 he married Shirley A. Neaderhiser in Elmo. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his daughters Lori and her husband James Winningham of Towanda, Kansas, Carolyn Devane of Manhattan, Debra and her husband Brent Chamberlin of Sugar Land, Texas; sister Marilyn Anderes of Hope, Virginia Anderes of Carlton; and his loving grandchildren Jamie, Andrew, Steven, and Evan Winningham, Hannah, Emma, and Collin Devane, Dalton, and Lauren Chamberlin. He was preceded in death by his infant son, sister Catherine Baier; brother Wayne Baier, and his parents.
Jim’s final resting place will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery near Carlton. A parish vigil and rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the funeral home with the family receiving friends following. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to the St. Columba Catholic Church and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.

ANDOVER — Mary Dinkel was born Nov. 30, 1939, in Ellis. She passed Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, at Kansas Medical Center, Andover.

Mrs. Dinkel was a resident of Andover and formerly of Salina. She was a beloved mother of four, grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of three.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vern; and son, Cory.

Survivors include two sons, Rick and Mike; daughter, Kristi Croston; sister, Diane Hagen; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

An inurnment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29 in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery with Father Keith Weber officiating.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Thursday, December 1 at the Beloit First United Methodist Church followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-8 PM with family present from 6-7:30 PM Wednesday at the McDonald Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Mitchell County Regional Medical Foundation.
