lan61201Milfred E. Landauer, 87, of Salina, passed away Dec. 1, 2016. He was born in Ellis, Kan., July 4, 1929.

Milfred worked for Ideal Truck Lines retiring after 40 years. He also delivered buses for Eldorado National and Bennet Drive Away.

He is survived by: his wife, Twila; son, Warren Landauer of Gypsum; daughters, Donna Mayes (Ken) of Las Cruses, N.M., Wanda Michell (Steven) of Vacaville, Calif., and Rhoda Wray (Larry) of Salina; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, with a Rosary beginning at 2 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

Memorials may be sent to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

vet_ffffffBilly W. “Bill” Thomas, 93, of Salina, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016. He was born October 10, 1923, in Siler City, NC, the son of John and Alma Thomas. He married Irene Wolsieffer on October 11, 1952, in Salina. She preceded him in death August 27, 1996. Bill was a Veteran of World War II, entering Normandy on D6 in the Medial Corps.

Bill was a self-employed remodeling contractor. He was a member of St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include two sons, Steve and wife, Sharon Steimel, of Hays, and Greg and wife Lorye, of Lindsborg; also one granddaughter, Kelly Lohrmeyer and four grandsons, Eric, Drew, Chantz and Wayd; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., with a vigil service at 6 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2016, at Ryan Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 5, 2016, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud St, Salina, with burial to follow in the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Autism Family Support Group of Hays, left in care of the Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina.

Edith Arlene Phillips, 90 of Abilene passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 in Abilene. She was born November 17, 1926 is rural Gypsum, the daughter of Emil and Emma Mae (Beetch) Schwarz. Edith grew up in the Carlton area attended the local schools and graduated from Gypsum. On October 15, 1950 she was united in marriage to Myron Phillips in Carlton, Kansas. He preceded her in death November 9, 2006. Edith drove the school bus for the Chapman School District and was also a farm wife. She was a member of the Red Hats Society and the Carlton Community Church Women.
She is survived by her daughter Donna Goehring and husband Donald of Wamego, Kansas and a son Ronald Phillips and wife Gayle of Abilene. Five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one sister, Dorothy Lehman of Abilene. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Myron, son, Don Phillips, granddaughter Jenna Phillips and a brother, Dean Schwarz.
Funeral Services for Edith will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Carlton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Donald Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in rural Carlton. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5-7 P.M., at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene. The family of Edith Arlene Phillips suggests memorials be given to the Carlton Presbyterian Church or to the Elsie Brooks Cancer Fund. (October 10, 1935 – November 30, 2016) 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 5, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Glasco. Burial will follow in Glasco Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the Dean Funeral Home in Glasco.

(August 14, 1933 – December 2, 2016) 

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Beloit, followed by burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery near Mankato. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 4 PM Monday at the McDonald Funeral Home. A rosary service will be at 7 PM Monday at the Church. Memorials may be given to VFW Post #6242 or Solomon Valley Hospice.
