Police Captain Mike Sweeney said Mikal Terrell allegedly tried to cash a check that had been stolen back in July from a man who lives in Derby.
Terrell tried to cash the check in the amount of $700 at the Bennington State Bank, 2130 S. Ohio.
Terrell left the bank after he was not able to cash the check, and the bank called police.
He was taken into custody a few minutes later in the area of Roach and Albert.
Terrell was booked into the Saline County Jail on requested charges of forgery and attempted theft.
