The Salina Police Department issued the following release late Thursday afternoon:

On December 6, 2016, the Salina Police Department was contacted by the mother of Mariah Peterson, 16-years-old. The mother reported Peterson missing and was concerned for her welfare.

The department immediately entered her as a missing person and multiple efforts were made to locate her by patrol officers and the detective division.
On December 8, 2016, Peterson was located by the Junction City Police Department and is safe and unharmed.

At this time, there is no foul play suspected.
