sharon-atkinson-1481203080Sharon Kay Atkinson, 73, was born on May 15, 1943, in Great Bend, Kansas and passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, December 8, 2016, in Toledo, Ohio.

Sharon spent the majority of her life in McPherson, Kansas, where she had a close circle of friends and was a well-known and much liked member of her church and community.

She was a kind, compassionate, generous, and hard-working woman who truly enjoyed life.

She had many loves, including reading, writing, traveling, and visiting with friends and family. But her greatest loves were her three children, Michael, Meridith, and Monique.

Sharon’s last years before moving to Perrysburg, Ohio were spent working for the McPherson County Appraisers Office and Ace Hardware, where she spent many a day talking to customers and helping them find items they didn’t even know they needed.

Sharon is survived by: her three children, Michael Hertach (Ashleigh Popkin) of Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, Meridith Hertach of Denver, Colorado, and Monique Hertach Thompson (Farrel) of Perrysburg, Ohio; grandchildren, Samantha, Madison, Mary, and Lacy; great-grandchild, Ricky; two brothers, Clifford Hickel (Martha) of San Antonio, Texas and Steven Hickel of Overland Park, Kansas; and younger sister, Janis Bunker (David) of Lawrence, Kansas.

Sharon is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kylee Renee Crawford, and her parents, Arthur and Mae Hickel.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, December 14, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Darren Frazier officiating. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.

Mike Walker, 65, Ford Automobiles Manager, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M., Sunday, December 11, 2016, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Monday, December 12, 2016, at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Graveside Service will be at 3:00 P.M., Monday, December 12, 2016, at Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS. Graveside Service handled by Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home. Preceded in death by his father, Albert G. Walker. Survived by his wife, Meg (Schwensen) Walker of Wichita; mother, Jackie Walker; brothers, John (Susan) Walker, Grady Walker, Robert (Shelly) Walker; sister, Cyndi (Scott) Morphew, all of Jacksonville, FL; sons, Michael, Matthew (Kristin), Joshua (Stephanie), Jacob (Jenna), Logan (Casey); daughter, Samantha; 11 grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, and nephews. After Mike left Ford, he worked for Coleman. While there, he did the NASCAR and Bass Pro circuits as a product manager. He loved it! Most recently, he worked for CMC as a driver. vet_ffffffDavid Dexter Musmaker, 82, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 11:58 p.m., Wednesday, December 7th, peacefully, at Pine Village, Moundridge, Kansas.

David was born on the Musmaker Farm, in Adair County Iowa on January 24, 1934, a son of the late Violet (Dexter) Musmaker-Eagen and Johnny Musmaker.

David attended the Orient grade schools, Junior High and graduated from Orient High School, Orient, Iowa. He then attended Iowa State College, Ames, Iowa and graduated with his BS in Civil Engineering.

He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Through the years David worked in various consulting engineering firms in Iowa and 1 in Illinois. He also worked for the Corps of Engineers for the Rock Island District. He retired from the City of Des Moines, Iowa Engineering Department in 1999.

David enjoyed his family especially his children and grandchildren. He had many cat’s through the years and loved watching British mysteries.

David Dexter Musmaker was united in marriage to Judith Joan Tank on November 2, 1968 at Walcott, Iowa.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 48 years Judy Musmaker, of McPherson, Kansas; his daughter, Karen Aulner and her husband Dwane Aulner, of North Las Vegas, Nevada; his son-in-law, Colin Hansen, of McPherson, Kansas; his 4 grandchildren, Jackson Aulner, Maren Hansen, Olivia Hansen, and Cole Hansen.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kristine Kay “Kristi” Hansen; his granddaughter, Sarah Aulner; and his brother John Musmaker.

Private family graveside will held at a later date in Iowa.

Arlene Frazier, the daughter of Ray Jensen and Ocie Pearl (Roper) Jensen was born March 27, 1925 at Lovewell, KS and passed away on December 7, 2016 at Republic County-Long Term Care, Belleville, KS at the age of 91 years, 8 months, and 10 days.
Arlene attended school in her early years at Courtland, KS and graduated from Lovewell High School in 1946. Following her graduation, she worked for her father’s carpentry and farming business as a bookkeeper. She later worked as a ward clerk in the Sandstone, Minnesota hospital for several years. Arlene also cleaned houses and did babysitting while she lived in the state of Washington. She later was a secretary at the feedlot in Scandia, KS.
Arlene was married for several years to William Paul Frazier and he preceded her in death. In recent years, she made her home in Belleville, KS.
Arlene was a member of the Central Christian Church, Belleville, KS. She loved children, to dance, and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Tiny, Evelyn and Vera; one brother, Loren; and her husband Paul Frazier.
Arlene is survived by one daughter, Pat Fredrickson of Belleville, KS; one brother, Allan (Neva) Jensen of Courtland, KS; a step-daughter, Evy Landon of Lawrence, KS; 3 grandchildren; and one great grandchild; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Bachelor-Surber Memorial Chapel, Belleville, KS with Pastor Jeremy Wittwer, officiating.
Friends may call from One PM until 9 PM on Monday and from 9 AM until service time on Tuesday at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS.
Interment will be at the Courtland Cemetery, Courtland, KS.
Memorials are suggested to Republic County-Long Term Care.

Richard Dean Patrick, 80, of Lindsborg, passed away December 8, 2016.

He was born December 29, 1935, the son of Nels Rueben and Edith (Johnson) Patrick in Lindsborg, KS.

On February 29, 1956, Richard was united in marriage to Elizabeth Delrena Stroble in Lindsborg, KS.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Arlen Patrick.

Richard is survived by his wife, Delrena of Lindsborg, sons; Mike Patrick (Jean) of Mitchell, SD, Jeff Patrick (Marla) of Lindsborg, daughters; Kim Koelling (Duane) of Lindsborg, Sandra Hingst (Warren) of Bellevue, NE, sister, Barbara Albrecht (Gail) of Lindsborg, twelve grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Private family burial was December 9, 2016, at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.

Memorials may be designated for Trinity United Methodist Church, the Smoky Valley Historical Society, or the Lindsborg Volunteer Fire Department in care of Christians Funeral Home 103 N. Washington St. Lindsborg, KS 67456.
