Anonymous tip results in a recovered Stolen Vehicle

A tip led authorities to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and other charges.

On March 18, between 4 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., Captain Forrester told The Salina Post that law enforcement received an anonymous tip. The tip was that Jason Wheeler, 41, of Salina, who has warrants out of Cloud County was at the hotel. Wheeler had supposedly stolen a 2006 purple Chevy Silverado.

Officers located a vehicle matching that description in a parking lot with a different tag on it. It was discovered that the vehicle was registered to Rm. 122 at the hotel.  Law enforcement made contact with Mr. Wheeler. It was discovered that he had several prescription narcotics on him in addition to the key to that vehicle.

The tag on the vehicle belonged to a business from Tescott, KS. When the officers ran the VIN number the vehicle registered as a 2008 and belong to Daniel Dalbini. Dalbini had reported the vehicle stolen in December of 2017. The vehicle was valued at $14,000.

Wheeler is facing charges of felony stolen property, unlawful possession of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, and one count of illegal tag.
