Police investigated a criminal threat that resulted in alleged drug charges.
According to Captain Sweeney, local authorities were investigating a criminal threat that was reported by two individuals on March 17, at the 100 E. block Claflin. The continued investigation led the officers to the 1600 block of Osborne on March 19. Upon arrival, the officers noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the home. James Fontenot, 26, refused to comply with the police and it led to a charge of resisting arrest.
The officers obtained a search warrant and discovered 70 grams of raw marijuana, cocaine, edible marijuana, scales, drug paraphernalia, and $1,400 in cash in the home. Fontenot is now facing potential charges of criminal threats, resisting arrest, felony possession of drugs, intent to sell within 1,000 ft. of a school.
