Lavon Johnston (nicknamed Cindy or Bonnie), long term resident of Salina, KS, passed away Sunday July 22 at age 90 in Overland Park, KS.

Lavon was born in Wichita, KS September 22, 1927 the daughter of John and Lillian (Dennis) Biddle. She graduated from Pittsburg State University. Lavon held many jobs over her lifetime, but what she enjoyed most was her family.

She is survived by three sons, Ernie Johnston (Kathy) of Merrimack, NH; John Johnston (Chris) of Prairie Village, KS; and Dane Johnston of Denver, CO. She leaves behind eight grandchildren: Seth Johnston of Walsenburg, CO; Ashley Johnston of Denver, CO; Joe Johnston of Columbia, MO; Elizabeth Douthit of Odessa, MO; Jenn Penrod of Layton, UT; Jay Johnston of Nashua, NH; Kayleen Tressler of Kingsville, TX; and Kevin Johnston of Los Angeles, CA, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Lavon’s husband, Brady, predeceased her in February, 2016.

The funeral will be at 11:45 am at the Ryan Mortuary on Wednesday August 1st with visitation at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Crown Point Cemetery near Culver, Ks. Memorial gifts can be made to Kansas City Hospice.
