The Saline County Election Office currently is recruiting election workers for upcoming elections.
According to information on the county website, an election worker must meet the following requirements.
- Be a registered voter in Saline County or a 16- or 17-year-old who is otherwise eligible to register to vote, except for not yet being of legal age.
- Cannot be a candidate on the ballot, except precinct committeeman or committeewoman.
- Must attend a mandatory training class.
- Must be available to work on Election Day from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. or until all of the closing procedures have been completed.
- Must have transportation to and from the work site.
- Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds.
- Must be able to understand, read, and speak English at an eighth-grade level.
- Must be able to work in a busy environment for approximately 14 consecutive hours on Election Day.
- Must be able to work with multiple ballot styles in an accurate and timely fashion.
According to the county website, election workers are paid $7.25 per hour for the election day and training.
