Salina man arrested after early morning altercation

A 29-year-old Salina man was taken into custody early this morning after police say he forced his way into a north Salina apartment and attempted to drag out one of the occupants.

Sergeant Jim Feldman said this morning that police were called to the 1100 block of North Third at 1:30 a.m. today by the 25-year-old male occupant of the residence who told them Preston Williams had forced his way into the apartment, hit him multiple times, and attempted to drag a 28-year-old female Salinan from the apartment. During the incident, Williams is believed to have done approximately $1,400 worth of damage to a television, the window of a 2003 GMC Denali, and a cell phone.

Feldman said all three of the persons involved in the incident were acquainted.

Williams was later arrested in the 1600 block of East Iron, Feldman said. Williams faces numerous charges, including aggravated battery, aggravated burglary, and property damage, Feldman added.
