SUV sustains gunfire damage

Salina Police were called to the 200 block of East Minneapolis early Friday morning for a report of a vehicle being shot.

Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney said that police were notified about the vehicle being shot at 3:28 a.m., however, they had received a report of shots fired in the area at 2:14 a.m. Sweeney said police believe the vehicle was shot at 2:14 a.m. and the damage was discovered by the owner, a female in her 20s, at 3:28 a.m.

Damage to the 1999 Dodge Durango was estimated at $1,000 and appears to have been caused by a handgun being fired at the vehicle, Sweeney said. Damage included one shot to the driver side door, one shot to the rear passenger door, and one flat rear tire.

There are no suspects at this time, Sweeney said.
