The Saline County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging people to stay off of county roads that are marked closed because of mud or water.

Undersheriff Brent Melander said Thursday that several county roads have been closed because of water or mud issues. He said the roads have been closed for people’s safety. Not only could vehicles get stuck in the mud, but they also could slide off into ditches that in some cases contain rocks and other debris.

“People need to be careful and stay off those roads,” Melander said.

Persons caught attempting to drive on a closed road will receive a citation, Melander said.

Four such citations were issued on Wednesday, he added.
