Zora M. Anderson, 87, Tescott, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018 in Concordia. She was born January 21, 1931 in Riley County to Harold and Lillian (Wichman) Wohler.

 

Zora attended schools at Linn, Greenleaf, and graduated from Clay Center High School. On November 19, 1950, she was united in marriage to Ronald A. Ross who preceded her in death on December 30, 1953. One son, Marc, was born of this union. On August 31, 1955 she was united in marriage to Melvin L. Anderson, making their home in Tescott in 1957. Two children, Nancy and Chris, were born of this union. They enjoyed family vacations, traveling to Canada, Mexico, and throughout the United States. They later enjoyed dancing, particularly polkas.

 

Zora was a member of the Tescott United Methodist Church and Tescott U.M.W. where she served as secretary for many years. She taught Sunday school and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. Zora was a homemaker until 1968. She retired from Tony’s Pizza, Salina in 1986. Upon retiring, she and Melvin traveled, including a trip to Germany and Denmark. They also wintered in Texas for several years. After Melvin’s death in May 2011, she moved to Concordia in 2012 to be close to family.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, Chris in 1984, and brother, Elmer in 2010.

 

Survivors are her son, Marc (Kong) Anderson of Rome, NY; daughter, Nancy (Dennis) Smith of Concordia; sister, L’Jeane (Herb) Mugler of Clay Center; three grandsons, Ronald (Ana) of Oceanside, CA, Roger (Courtney) Anderson of Victor, NY, and Travis Smith of Scandia; one granddaughter, Amanda (Kenny) Terrill of Concordia; great-grandchildren, Savana Brewster, Samuel, Solomon, McKenna and Reid Anderson, Samantha, Dylan, Haylee, Jordan, and Lily Terrill.

 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 15 at the Tescott United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Franklin Cemetery, Tescott. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, where the family will receive friends from 5-7. Memorials may be made to the Tescott United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
